The much-loved medieval chapel and dining halls of the original Friary of St Nicholas have been at the heart of Christ College for generations of Breconians, as have other historic buildings such as the mid-Victorian School House (1864), and the later Big School (1881) and Donaldson’s House (1890).
We often take them for granted because they are part of the fabric of the Christ College experience, but they are important buildings that require continuous attention. Much of the day-to-day maintenance work is done by our highly skilled Estates team. However, aspects of the buildings’ care often require costly specialist attention. We also have a number of historic artefacts that similarly need particular care.
The Chapel and Heritage Fund actively helps to preserve the school's heritage.
The posts below tell the stories of what has already been achieved, thanks to the generosity of donors. With your help we can do more. Planned projects range from conservation of oil portraits to specialist work on stained glass: the larger the fund, the larger the projects we can plan to undertake.
If you would like to support the school’s heritage, please donate specifically to the Chapel and Heritage Fund.
