Over the years thousands of OBs have been able to attend Christ College Brecon thanks to some financial support from the school. Without this help, the fees would have been beyond the reach of many hard-working families. This support was only possible due to the kindness and generosity of previous OBs who chose to give back the support they received to the next generation by contributing to the school Bursary fund.
Christ College was established by Henry VIII in 1541 with an endowment of £53, which included £24 for the education of scholars. This is a very important part of our history and our charitable status is fundamental to what we are. Sadly, our endowment has long since disappeared. The aim now is to rebuild our Foundation and create a culture of giving to sustain us for the long term, and to continue to be a beacon of enlightened and quality education in Wales. We intend to continue and develop our support for all pupils whatever their background and attract the brightest and the best to Christ College. This year the school is offering more than £1.4 million of financial support to families. This is not sustainable as it is well beyond the scope of the current bursary fund. In short, we need your help.
