Although not the first time Rob had returned to CCB it was great to welcome him yesterday, along with his wife Linda, when he presented his 1983 Lions shirt to the school.
After 22 Welsh Union caps, 2 British Lions caps (1980-85) and 5 Welsh League caps (91-93) he now lives in New Zealand where he is still teach and coaching. While at CCB he was in the 1st XV for 4 years from 1976 through to 1979 where they beat Llandovery 4 years running. He also played in a U15 7's team that won the Bristol Grammar school tournament scoring 147 points with '0' against. This was followed a few years later by beating Hereford Cathedral school by over 100 points.
He gained his first full Wales cap as a 19 year old in November 1980 against New Zealand in Cardiff. They were captained by Graham Mourie and he marked Stu Wilson on the wing.
He was joined at lunch by a number of his old school mates and also Bleddyn Bowen who had payed with him for Wales.
Thanks to Felicity Kilpatrick (CCB archivist) for putting together a slide show of pictures from from Rob's time in school. You can view the slideshow in Photos in Galleries.
After he was able to watch the current 1st XV beat Bro Morgannwg 60-7 - just like the old days....
