Headmaster’s Cup – Friday 18th June 2021 – Cradoc
Match Report
What a delight to be back again after this seemingly endless lock-down! Not quite universal balmy sunshine but mild enough to be classed as early summer! Such a joy to be able at last to mingle again with friends of all ages and to welcome some new and younger too!!
After our now traditional welcome of coffee and baps, tee-off in groups of threes / fours began; our line-up:-
Simon Hill, Rhodri Jenkins, Gwyn Jones, Harrison Kent, Andrew Lewis, Martin Like
Ethan Morgan, Mike Muir, Peter Owen, Hugh Phillips, Charles Raw-Rees
Dylan Raw-Rees – O.Ll. but time served Hon.O.B. and always a delight to welcome!!
Steffan Raw-Rees, Charles Spencer, Jonathan Spencer, Gerwyn Williams,
Ryan Williams, Mark Wilson
Such a beautiful setting up here with a rich variety of saplings, mature trees, rhododendrons in full bloom …. the sound of silence and even sight of a red kite put my indifferent golf into true perspective!
Lack of rain made putting on the rock hard greens difficult, despite which lots of good scores posted – worth mentioning some:-
Jonathan Spencer, Harrison Kent and Gerwyn Williams all on 33points; Mark Wilson 34;
In third place:- Simon Hill 37 points
And equal first:- Hon. O.B. Dylan Raw-Rees 38 points – but sadly went to the wrong school (not his fault!!)
And therefore the Cup winner – Ryan Williams 38 points
We were delighted to welcome The Head, Gareth Pearson, to our very convivial post golf lunch, who eloquently made the presentation.
Many thanks for your support in making this such a happy welcome back occasion, and especially to Mike Muir for organising the whole event and to the catering staff for looking after us so efficiently and happily.
Peter Owen (Hon. Sec.)
