A message from the Head.

I am delighted to be able to update you on the recent Christ College Giving Day and to share our sincere thanks for the support of the Christ College community.

All of the Giving Day challenges were successfully met, unlocking additional gifts generously pledged by OBs, parents and friends. With donors from across the globe stretching from the US, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong to the UK, Germany and France, 170 donations totalled a terrific £33,458. On a smaller geographical scale, School House can pride itself on being top of the league for the number of donation made.

At school, there were some wonderful highlights during the day. The day began with the Food Bank Challenge in support of Brecon Foodbank. Pupils donated over 200 items, amounting to 239kg of much-needed food and household supplies at a time of year when contributions typically decline.

Community challenges during the day included a local litter pick by St Nick's, a collaborative distance challenge, and a traditional cake sale. One particularly impressive endurance feat saw Year 7 and Year 8 walk a combined total of 154.1 miles during their PE lessons.

DRG's Appeal for the Pupil Opportunity Fund saw especially tremendous support. Thanks to this generosity, we are already taking steps to install two air conditioning units for the Neuadd theatre. This will make a significant enhancement to the auditorioum for performers and audiences - and, of course, for our hard-working technical crew.

Similarly generous backing of the Chapel and Heritage Fund will enable us to move forward with several planned projects, including installing heritage signage in Chapel Yard and undertaking a full restoration of the Chapel doors. More immediately, I am very pleased to let you know that work to re-letter and re-gild the WW1 memorial tablet is scheduled for completion in advance of the Summer Term.

With heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to such a successful and uplifting day for Christ College,

Gareth Pearson

Head
