Chapel and Heritage Fund - Giving Day 2026

Help safeguard our heritage for future generations

School News

Since it was established in 2023, the Chapel and Heritage Fund, one of the four 2026 Giving Day funds, has been actively safeguarding the precious legacy that connects past, present, and future members of our school community.

Thanks to our generous donors, we have successfully completed a wide-ranging array of important heritage projects since Giving Day 2024. These include

  • repair and conservation of our Medieval stalls
  • restoration and reglazing of several important oil paintings
  • restoration of the Gothic lectern in the Chapel
  • repair of St Nick's Bardic chair
  • re-lettering and regilding of the WW2 memorial tablet

On Giving Day 2026 we need your help to grow the Chapel and Heritage Fund.

Your support will enable us to confidently carry out the next phase of our plans, which include

  • re-lettering and re-gilding the WW1 Memorial tablet
  • completing specialist repair to the Chapel door
  • rebinding team photograph albums
  • installing heritage signage for our most historic buildings
  • undertaking more ambitious projects in the future.

If you share our commitment to preserving our past for future generations, please make a lasting impact by supporting the Chapel and Heritage Fund.

On Giving Day 2026, donations up to a total of £750 will double thanks to match funding pledged by Charles Morgan.

We are lucky to have objects - not just the chapel and school buildings – that bear witness to the School’s history. It falls to all of us to act as custodians of these tangible proofs of the heritage of the School for future generations, from the restoration of the misericords of the medieval stalls – for me, one of the highlights of the recent work of the Fund – to the repairing of the bindings of the team photograph albums.

I hope you will join me in supporting the Chapel and Heritage Fund.

Charles Morgan (Orchard 1965-71)

Thank you
