Christ College Brecon Announces New Head from September 2026

Christ College Brecon is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Wallace as its next Head, following an extensive recruitment process that attracted a strong field of candidates.

Alex, who joins the school in September 2026, is currently Deputy Head Academic at Leighton Park School in Reading, a role he has held since 2021. During his tenure the school has experienced notable growth in pupil numbers, significant improvements in academic achievement, and national recognition — including being named ISA Independent School of the Year 2023 and winning the ISA Future Readiness Award in 2024.

Before joining Leighton Park, Alex spent fourteen years at The Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe, progressing to the role of Senior Deputy Head. A passionate geographer, he studied at the University of Birmingham before completing his PGCE at the University of Bath. Alongside his academic interests, Alex is a keen sportsman, having played rugby at semi-professional level and cricket and rugby for the University of Birmingham 1st teams.

Speaking about his appointment, Alex said:

“I am absolutely delighted to accept the position of Head at Christ College Brecon. Each time I have visited the school, I have been struck by its remarkable sense of community and belonging. Whether speaking with staff, pupils, governors, or parents, I have consistently felt the deep pride and affection held for this exceptional school. I am eager to get to know families as we work together to continue delivering excellence for everyone who is part of the Christ College Brecon family.”

Chair of Governors, Michael Davies added that opportunities will be arranged over the next two terms for Alex to visit and meet pupils, parents and staff.

The Governors are confident that Alex is an excellent fit to lead Christ College Brecon into the next chapter of its rich history.
