On 28 January 2002, King Charles III, then the Prince of Wales, visited Christ College in his capacity as Patron of the Christ College Foundation. The Foundation was originally established under the Prince’s Patronage, and formally launched on the occasion of his visit.

On the day of his visit, the Prince discussed progress of the Foundation with the Headmaster, Mr Phillip Jones, and talked to a number of generous donors over a cup of tea in the Dining Hall before unveiling a commemorative plaque in the Tunnel.

Those who were there remember the keen interest shown by King Charles in the activities of the Foundation, and the way he engaged with pupils and took part in a special Chapel service. It was certainly a memorable occasion. We have selected some of the best photos to commemorate the Royal Visit and added them to the Galleries to mark the Coronation.

The Coronation weekend promises to be a busy one for Christ College.

Giving Day launches on Friday 5th May. You can follow progress of the day on the Giving Day website. Take a look at the challenges, personal stories, photos and the donor board, and consider making a gift - no matter how large or small, to help boost the Funds that are vital to Christ College. With Giving Day funds going to the Foundation, or to one of three specific funds within the Foundation, it seems especially fitting that we should remember the visit of its Patron in 2002.

The Coronation Mountain Challenge takes place on Sunday 7 May. If you’d like to join the many OBs and supporters who have already signed up for the event, you can find more information here. Funds raised from the Mountain Challenge will be shared between Brecon Mountain Rescue and the Foundation.
