OBs Remembered |
Carl was born in Kenya where he lived until he was 7. He moved to Cardiff and then Dubai. Carl left Christ College, Brecon at 16, joined his father in Dubai at 17 and became an oilfield trainee. He had a bad motorbike accident and was back in Cardiff for over a year. He then went to Abu Dhabi as a Well Tester. He met and married Georgie there.
After losing a finger in a rig accident, Carl was determined to learn to play the guitar. He did and it became a lifelong passion.
Carl and Georgie returned to England, spent a few months travelling the beaches of southern Europe in a campervan and then moved to Norfolk. They had 2 daughters - Jo and Alice - who he doted on.
He continued to work on the rigs and travelled extensively. He also took every opportunity to play guitar and sing at local pubs and festivals. He also had his own band. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed life.
Carl was always sociable and was a good friend to many. He retrained as a Thatcher which he really loved. Carl had a stroke in 2015 and although he made a good recovery, he started to show early signs of dementia and sadly died in on 7th June, 2025.
He is greatly missed by his family, daughters and grandchildren.
