Ian B Morgan (SHB, 62-67)
Ian Bassett Morgan: School House Blue, 1962 - 1967
Born 1st July 1948 - Died 23rd January 2025

Ian was born on 1st July 1948 on the Gower, where he spent his early years. He had two younger sisters Anthea and Sonia.

He went to Prep School at Brightlands and then to Christ’s College Brecon. During his time there he made some good friends, one of whom now lives in Australia and sent the following message to Fiona which gives an insight into Ian’s time at Christs College -
"What is very clear in my memory is Ian’s  (IB) prolific writing of spy and thriller stories and books. He would buy many cheap lined notebooks and spend hours either furiously scribbling these fantastic fictional stories in them. If he was not writing then he would be chewing the end of the pencil deep in thought.  Every once in a while a better thought  would come along and out came the rubber to create a new space in the text.  Of course we all had to be educated in the nuances of being a M15 spy so we were all tutored by IB in the details of certain fire arms, we soon understood the importance of a Walther PPK, or a Beretta  and other ways of disposing of the enemy."

Ian then went on to study Law at Bristol Polytechnic. There he met Sandie and they later married and had their lovely daughter Fiona.
Ian had a career in Sales and Holiday Park Management before fulfilling his life long dream of becoming a published author of five books, Wyatt, Wyatt & the Morseby legacy, Wyatt’s Orphan, Jack Lanes browning and Dane’s testament under the name of David Gethin. He also occasionally acted as a consultant for the BBC and spoke on BBC Radio.
He was a keen countryman, training his own gun dogs and was an excellent shot. He was an avid reader with a thirst for knowledge as evidenced by his large collection of books. He was also a fan of Modern Jazz, especially Dave Brubeck.
Throughout his life Ian was concerned to help people and had many friends. Sadly in later years his health problems took a toll on him but he remained stubborn and battling to the end.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter Fiona, his sister Sonia, Sandie and his many friends, especially Mariola and her daughters, Victoria and Sophie who were a great support to him in his later years.
